Project Daydream

November, 2020
Maria Finkelmeier, Timothy Hall, Susie Lovett, and Allison Tanenhaus
Presented by the Celebrity Series of Boston
at the Boston Center for the Arts

Empowering imagination and relaxation through music, Project Daydream is an experience by Maria Finkelmeier with Timothy Hall. The 30 minute work features voice, marimba, saxophone and electronic music elements while discovering the reverberation and shadows of Boston’s iconic Cyclorama. Through five segments, listeners are encouraged to explore their breath, their joy, their support system, and their own mantra. The music will support relaxation by infusing repetitive phrases, heartbeat rhythms, and soaring melodies with hypnotic visuals by Allison Tanenhaus. The program flow, developed in collaboration with Susie Lovett of Hands to Heart Center, takes listeners on a journey from a space of personal reflection to collective rejuvenation.

The work was premiered on November 2, 2020, encouraging listeners to pause and breathe on the eve of the 2020 Election Day. The work is now being streamed directly to schools and community centers throughout the month of November by the Celebrity Series of Boston, offering a special moment for our youth as they navigate the pandemic and difficulties that have plagued this year.

This project is made possible by the Celebrity Series of Boston in part by a grant from the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture and the City of Boston.
