Waking the Monster for Illuminus Boston at HubWeek

  • Lansdowne Street Boston, MA, 02215 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

** please note the date change! Due to Hurricane Joaquin, the Monster will now wake up on October 10! I'd want to sleep through a hurricane too ;) **

For the first time, Fenway Park’s Green Monster will step out of left field and take center stage as the feature for Illuminus Boston on Lansdowne.  “Waking the Monster” is a public art piece that will act as the feature for this free two-night festival of contemporary projection, light, sound and experiential art. The three-story exterior support structure of the Green Monster that faces Lansdowne Street will be turned into a nine-person percussion playground, complete with notation system and carefully dissected sonic map. Co-produced and created by Boston-based percussionists and composers Maria Finkelmeier (founder of Kadence Arts), and Ryan Edwards (Berklee graduate), with projection by Sam Okerstrom-Lang, the project will reflect the diversity and depth of Boston’s music scene.
